National GNSS
Sector: Infrastructure
Typology: Civil works
Scope: Implementation of GNSS/GPS system and machinery control throughout the country using state-of-the-art GNSS reference equipment GPS / GLONASS / Galileo / Beidou / QZSS, GNSS Antennas and GNSS Network Management Software, for integration into a GNSS Positioning Network.
Supply, installation and launch of ten permanent stations that capture information from the Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). The first was installed in Santiago de Cuba (SCUB) in the last decade of the last century and is the only Cuban station belonging to the International GNSS Service (IGS). The second was installed in Camagüey (CN16), as part of the CocoNet project.
At the beginning of 2016, three stations were installed in Havana (HAVA), Villa Clara (VICL) and Holguín (HOLG). In a second phase, five more stations were incorporated in Pinar del Río (PRIO), Cárdenas (CARD), Sancti- Spíritus (SSPI), Las Tunas (LTUN) and Bayamo (BYMO), as part of the project to modernise the National Geodetic Network (RGN).
The work sets out the working strategy adopted to develop uninterrupted tracking and to support some applications of precision GNSS determinations by adopting these reference stations, based on obtaining a preliminary solution of coordinates and heights referred to the ITRF2014 system.
